Action, Friendship and Smiles (1/12/08)

Inspired by Rosemarie's post on my One with Spirit Meta-Journal group, "I predict", my horoscope for today...as well as, re-listening to Carolyn Myss' "Sacred Contracts".

Here's my horoscope for today, January 12, 2008:

Action is the key word of the day for you, dear Capricorn, so put on some comfortable shoes this morning and have a good time. Infuse a bit of playfulness in your dealings with others and find ways in which you can escape reality for a little while. Take the original scenario and add a twist of the bizarre. Opinions will be especially strong today and conflict may arise, but realize that a breath of playfulness and lightheartedness will remedy any situation.

I realize that I've been in a holding pattern for the last few weeks...as always, there's no one to blame but myself. I'm terribly good at busy-ness...keeping busy, but not getting much in the way of my to-do list accomplished.  Such is the downside of being ‘between jobs.' Although it's nice to have time off from work...everyone loves a vacation...I have neither the time nor the companionship to do the travel that I crave...not to speak of rising fuel prices and other expenses for the roadtrip I envision. Also, I do have several serious projects that I'm ‘supposed' to be working on...more about that later.

So, here I am, on a Saturday night, sitting in front of my computer and doing laundry...whoopee! I've got plenty to do tomorrow and potential job opportunities taking shape this coming week...time to get back into serious action mode! I did put my ‘comfortable shoes on' and went out earlier today...nuttin' special just a few of my usual stops, said ‘hi' to some friends of mine up in Montgomery Village, a bite to eat, drop my NetFlix disk off at the post office...

"Life is short"...or so they say...and I tend to agree, at least in cosmic terms. We've only got just so much time to do all of the things we came here to do. Those of us who are awakening to this realization can feel time literally being compressed.  No longer can we calmly sit back and simply wait for life to find us...we've gotta...[[[gulp]]]....go after it with all the gusto we can muster! If you've never heard Carolyn Myss and any one of her wonderful messages (some of which I post to my group), you should definitely lend an ear (audiobooks are a great way of ‘consuming' the ‘written word') to "Sacred Contracts".  In it, she explains about the contracts we made BEFORE we incarnated...that we live by archetypes and that nothing happens without a purpose...a SOUL purpose.

People talk about soulmates; I never believed in such a thing...although I do think we incarnate in soul GROUPS. Soul groups are people who, as Carolyn says, contracted with us to come into physical form with specific roles to play in each other's lives. Some of these same souls have been traveling with us from lifetime to lifetime for a VERY LONG TIME...in some cases, going back to the earliest days of humankind. So, it's likely that you know...at a soul's level...most, if not all, of the people who are, have been, or will be, part of your life.

I've met some of these people...I know and love several of them. We have a deep abiding respect for each other...even when we can't stand to be in the same room! Our lives are so intertwined with those of others that we could never be who we were destined to be without them. Some of them are friends, some of them are lovers...teachers...parents...siblings...bosses...coworkers...and, yes, even enemies. It's been said that you can't really hate someone without loving them! But, all these people are important to who we are, who we are becoming and, sometimes without even knowing them, helping others do the same.

Friends, especially those we call ‘best' or intimate friends, are the most priceless item we'll never own...for they are truly a gift. And, like any gift, they must be gratefully received and cherished in order for them to be of the most value. This gift of friendship may, at times, be difficult to appreciate. For, as soon as we become use to a friend, we start taking that gift for granted...placing expectations on it to remain constant and predictable. However, in this time, more than any other, nothing can be ‘counted on' or without change...in fact, change IS the only constant.

My prediction...in keeping with those that Rosemary suggested...is this, if we can maintain our eternal gratitude for our friends, each and every day...just as they show up in our lives, for a season or for a reason...or both, we will find happiness in every moment. For happiness is an ‘inside job'...no one can ‘give' it to us, nor can they take it away...it is our possession, our personal gift to ourselves, and the sustaining hope that makes each day be welcomed with open arms and an open heart. A genuine smile is the sign that your soul is happy. Have you smiled today...at yourself...at all...for no reason in particular? If you cannot smile (or even laugh out loud) when reading these words...a genuine smile, the kind that warms your heart as it exercises your face, perhaps you may need to examine what happened to your ‘happy-ness'.

Here's a reminder to myself: don't let busy-ness replace happy-ness  Just for fun...smile now, smile often and smile ‘cuz it makes others wonder what you've been up to!

ROFL,

Debi
